#VisibleLocalTrusted | Yesterday evening, while on patrol, PCSO Chad Carrington located a large fire off Marquis Drive in #CannockChase. Using his extensive local knowledge, Chad guided colleagues and @Staffordshire Fire and Rescue to the area, helping prevent what could have become a much larger incident.
As a precaution, a nearby campsite was temporarily evacuated to ensure everyone’s safety.
During the response, two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion. They were assessed by ambulance crews and discharged, before returning to the front line to continue tackling the blaze - a testament to their dedication.
In total, six fire trucks attended, supported by @Cannock Police and an off‑duty @Staffordshire County Council ranger.
A massive thank you to the members of the public who stopped with bottled water, your kindness was greatly appreciated.
An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire. If you have any information, please contact 101 or reach out anonymously via CrimeStoppers.
