UPDATE FOLLOWING INCIDENT YESTERDAY

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a series of offences after officers responded to a report of a man on top of a storage container at Rugeley Trent Valley railway station.

We were called at 8.10am yesterday (Thursday 9 July) to an address in Leek after a woman had been assaulted by a man inside a property. 

We then received a report that the same man was on top of a storage container next to Rugeley Trent Valley railway station.

A 27-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been arrested on suspicion of rape of a woman, assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, threats to kill, affray, causing obstruction of an engine / carriage using the railway and criminal damage.
