Speed Watch Results on Yarnfield Lane |
||
|
Between 9:30am and 10:30am on Sunday 5th July 2026, the local Community Speed Watch Team conducted a speed monitoring session on Yarnfield Lane, near Ashdale Park.
During the one-hour operation: Speed limits are in place to protect all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, residents and children. Excessive speed significantly reduces a driver's ability to react to hazards and increases both the likelihood and severity of collisions.
The fact that a vehicle was recorded travelling at 54mph in a 30mph zone is particularly alarming. At this speed, the consequences of a collision can be devastating and potentially life-changing for those involved.
The vehicles identified during this session will be dealt with accordingly through the appropriate processes.
I would like to thank the Community Speed Watch volunteers for their continued support in helping to make our roads safer. The information gathered during these sessions helps identify problem areas and encourages drivers to think about their speed and the impact it can have on the community.
✅ Please remember: Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.
Thanks
