Trentham and Hanford - Ampthill Pl update, canal updates, damage to fences, neighbourhood watch and many community updates |
||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you all are having a nice weekend. We have had a number of new ‘sign ups’ to Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last few days, which is fantastic. A big welcome to you all!! If you could please continue to spread the word about these emails to family, friends, neighbours and on social media. Anyone wishing to receive them can do so by visiting www.staffordshiresmartalert.co.uk or by scanning this QR code.
Please find at the bottom of this email the dates, times and locations of upcoming Police Street Surgeries. I did spot an error on the previous e-mail for the time for the Wessex Dr surgery, which I have corrected below. Over the last few days surgeries have been completed at Theresa Cl, Florence Road and Deansberry Cl.
On Wednesday (18/02/26) I will email the details of the street surgeries taking place after 18/02/26.
Incident update -Ampthill Pl - following on from my previous email regarding the male who had made false claims of making a repair to a residential property and requesting payment, positive progress has been made with the investigation, which is currently ongoing.
The Canal
Patrols of the canal have been carried on 12/02/26, 13/02/26 and 14/02/26, covering from the entrance at Cow Lane Hanford to the bridge at Jonathan Rd, keeping in view concerns raised regarding cyclists going too fast along with issues involving e-bikes and e-scooters. I have also spoken to a gentleman who was recently assaulted after challenging two persons using a moped along the towpath. I will be increasing patrols of the canal as I am determined to keep it a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
If anyone does a come across any motorbikes using the towpath, please do not hesitate in calling 999.
I have drafted up a poster (see above picture) to hand out to cyclists, to which I took advantage of the great weather we had on 14/02/26, and was able to commence what will be a long-term term initiative. I stopped and spoke to cyclists and handed out the posters, passing on advice. I've also emailed the Canal and River Trust, asking for the possibility of more signage encouraging slower cycling. The Canal and River Trust have plenty of advice for those cycling along the tow paths, including a campaign called ‘Stay Kind Slow Down’ which can be found by visiting Stay kind and slow down | Canal & River Trust
Path by Pacific Rd leading to the canal
We have received a further report of a fence being kicked and damaged at this location. This took place at approximately 15:30 on 13/02/26. If anyone has any information or CCTV that may help my enquiries, please reply to this message or e-mail myself scott.woodward@staffordshire.police.uk – thank you. I have been re-attending this location frequently and will continue these targeted patrols.
Parking - Mayne St.
Concerns have been raised regarding vehicles blocking the pavement when visiting businesses on Mayne St, near to the junction of Diarmid Rd. I've looked at this issue and spoken with businesses, who have been very understanding of the concerns. Currently vehicles often park facing the businesses (see photo A), where due to the size of many of them and lack of room, they obstruct the pavement, leaving little to no room for pedestrians to pass. There is plenty of room for vehicles to park along the road, which will prevent any obstructions. If vehicles park as highlighted in ‘photo B’ this should go along way in preventing obstructions and keeping the pavement clear. I'll continue to look at this issue frequently and will do my best to resolve it.
I've also been asked to look at vehicles parking too close to the junction of Danehill Grove, causing visibility obstructions. I've been to this location frequently over the last few days and I am happy to report there were no issues during these patrols.
I've also continued to visit the junction of Kennedy Rd with ‘The Lea’ (near to the shops), keeping a close eye on parking issues here.
Match day parking – Wilson Rd
I was asked to look at the parking on Match days on Wilson Rd near to cow Lane. Today (15/02/26) I attended the location and addressed two vehicles that had parked too close to the junction of Chatsworth Park Ave. I am not always on duty during these games but will do my best to attend when I can.
Reports to the council - Potholes
I am not sure if anyone has reported these, but I made reports to 'Highways' about a large pothole on Brough Ln (junction with Kennedy Rd) and one on New Inn Lane (junction with Trentley Rd). I made this report by visiting www.stoke.gov.uk. Reports to the Council can also be made by calling 01782 234 234.
Neighbourhood Watch
This morning (15/02/26) I was out early delivering welcome packs to addresses within the New Neighbourhood Watch Zones that I have launched. The new zones are called…. Kingside Grove, Bransty Grove and Caldew Grove Neighbourhood Watch Torridon Close, Southgate Avenue and Camberwell Grove, Neighbourhood Watch In the very near future Neighbourhood Watch signs will be placed on lampposts at these locations. If you would like to add your address to these or any of the other zones we have across Trentham and Hanford, you can do so by visiting www.ourwatch.org.uk
Heritage Roadshow events.
On 14/02/26 I called in at a Heritage Roadshow event at the Trentham Learning Centre, Allerton Rd. It was really interesting to look at many of the historical photos of Trentham on display. If you would like more information of these events visit www.trenthamheritage.org.uk
And lastly on 13/02/26 myself and PC Robinson visited the Little Den Nursery, Stone Road, where we showed two classes a Police vehicle.
