VEHICLE CRIME IS INCREASING... |
||
|
#ProblemSolvingPolicing | We’re seeing a rise in vehicle crime across the district, and we’re urging residents to stay alert and take extra steps to protect their vehicles.
Officers are responding to a number of recent reports involving thefts from vehicles, attempted break‑ins, and damage caused by offenders looking for valuables. Patrols have been increased in key areas, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.
A few simple precautions can make a real difference in reducing opportunities for criminals:
- Always lock your vehicle, even if you’re only stepping away for a moment.
- Remove valuables such as bags, tools, wallets, and electronics — don’t leave anything on display.
- Park in well‑lit areas or secure car parks whenever possible.
- Use additional security like steering wheel locks, wheel clamps, or tracking devices.
- Check your vehicle is locked by trying the handle before walking away — signal‑blocking devices can sometimes prevent key fobs from locking properly.
- Report suspicious behaviour around parked vehicles, especially late at night or in quieter areas.
If you’ve experienced vehicle crime or have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may help, please get in touch via the usual channels.
Working together and staying vigilant helps keep our communities safer.
