Man who robbed seven shops at knifepoint jailed for 12 years |
||
A man who robbed seven shops at knifepoint in Staffordshire has been jailed for more than a decade.
Patryk Slepowronski, 22, of Marston Montgomery, Derbyshire, carried out a string of offences in Upper Tean, Uttoxeter, Hixon, Stafford and Bentilee between November 2024 and January 2025, where it is believed he took around £7,000 in cash.
He targeted Co-ops, Tesco Express stores, Morrisons and One Stops. He went inside armed with a knife and would threaten staff members before emptying the tills of cash and leaving the scene. He also forced staff to open safes for him in a number of the robberies.
Detectives from our criminal investigations department (CID) had been working extremely hard to investigate the reports and identify the person responsible. Their attention turned to Slepowronski when a DNA hit came back from a knifepoint robbery in Hixon on 24 December last year.
Shortly after he was arrested. Safe keys and money that had been taken from a number of the robberies were found at his home.
After pleading guilty to six counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery at an earlier hearing, he was jailed for 12 years at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (10 October).
He also pleaded guilty to eight counts of robbery, seven counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place and one count of attempted robbery for similar offences in Derbyshire, between July and December last year. Three of these robberies took place over the course of just nine days in October.
Thankfully, nobody was physically hurt during these incidents.
PC Libby May Houston, who investigated the case, said: “Slepowronksi was prolific in his offending and caused significant distress and alarm to those who were unfortunate enough to be faced with him in these robberies.
“It is not lost on us the emotional effect having a knife pointed at you can have on the victims in these incidents. We’ve worked hard to identify Slepowronski, despite his attempts to conceal his identity, and bring him to justice.”
By working proactively to tackle burglary, theft and robbery, we were able to reduce the total amount of related crimes in 2024, when compared to 2023.
We’re continuing to act robustly against those responsible for these types of crimes in Staffordshire. | ||
