Our local safety partner, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, are currently recruiting on-call firefighters for Hanley Fire and Police Station.

We’re helping them to spread the word in the local community, so if you know someone who might be interested in the role we'd appreciate your help to pass this on.

To explain the role, on-call firefighters live or work near to the station and are paid to respond to incidents from home or work instead of being based at the station. 

They receive the same training and attend the same types of incidents as full-time firefighters, but can work their hours flexibly around other jobs, childcare and hobbies by providing a number of on-call hours every week.

At the moment there are 9 crew working on-call at Hanley and the crew has a range of experience from 20 years to 6 months.

When they’re not on-call the crew work in a range of roles including surveyor, counsellor, chef and engineer, fitting their on-call hours around our existing commitments.
