Staying safe in the school holidays


Wishing everyone a peaceful Easter break. If you have any concerns about your child whilst out and about in your local area, please report your concerns- see the below advice for guidance. 

To ensure the safety of children and families in East Staffordshire during school holidays, parents can utilize resources like the Staffordshire County Council's Emergency Duty Team (EDT) for immediate concerns. For general child protection concerns, the Staffordshire Childrens Advice and Support Service (SCAS) is available. The East Staffordshire Family Hub also offers support and advice for families, including information on the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. 

Safety Tips and Resources: 

  • Report Concerns: If you believe a child is at immediate risk, contact the police on 999 or 101, then contact the SCAS or Emergency Duty Team. 
  • Emergency Duty Team (EDT): For out-of-hours and weekend concerns, call the EDT on 0345 604 2886. 
  • Staffordshire Childrens Advice and Support Service (SCAS): For general child protection concerns, contact SCAS. 
  • East Staffordshire Family Hub: This hub provides a range of support and advice for families, including information on the HAF programme. 
  • Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme: This programme offers free activities and meals for eligible children during school holidays.
