Male arrested on suspicion of Fraud

Officers in Lichfield have made an arrest after a man in his 60s had a large amount of money taken from his bank account.

Officers started investigating after receiving a report of fraud where thousands of pounds had been taken from the victim’s account.

We’ve been carrying out enquiries and arrested a 33-year-old man, from Walsall, on suspicion of fraud. He was questioned in custody and bailed with conditions while our investigation continues.

Chief Inspector Paul Finlayson, from the Lichfield local policing team, said: “We’re working proactively across Staffordshire to target those harming local communities.

“Fraud is the most prevalent crime in the UK and often causes long-lasting emotional and financial harm to innocent people.

“I want communities to know that we’re working hard every single day to tackle the problems that matter the most and we’re continuing to take action against those responsible.”

In a recent national crackdown, we seized nearly £40,000-worth of cash and arrested six people on suspicion of fraud.
