DOGS IN THE NATURE RESERVE

In recent weeks we have had a number of reports relating to dogs in Kettlebrook Nature Reserve, Wilnecote

The majority are dog-on-dog attacks but we have had some where the dogs have gone for people too. Luckily, nobody has been hurt.

We understand many people like to give dogs a bit of fuss and that most dogs are friendly. However, you should always make sure you check with the owner that it is OK to greet their dog and call the dog to you (follow the 3 steps as pictured).

We would like to remind dog owners to ensure their dogs are kept on a lead in high-footfall areas and areas where there is waterfowl or ground nesting birds. There is a Public Space Protection order across Tamworth Borough relating to dog control: PSPO Tamworth Dog Control

We would also like to remind people of the laws brought in last year relating to the ownership of XL bully dogs - each dog must be registered and have a certificate of exemption. When out in public the dog should be wearing a muzzle and on a lead at all times. For more information: Ban on XL Bully dogs - GOV.UK

For information on being a responsible dog owner: It's a Dog's Life
