Asian/high value jewellery thefts – residential burglary advice

Residential burglary can increase during the autumn and winter months and at this time of year valuable jewellery such as Asian gold and luxury watches are often targeted.

We encourage you to take some simple steps to protect your jewellery;

  • Ensure your jewellery is insured
  • Make a list of all your jewellery together with a detailed description
  • Take photographs of your jewellery on a plain background next to a ruler
  • Use www.enquirus.com or www.immobilise.com to register your jewellery
  • Consider forensically marking your high value possessions
  • Store high value jewellery that isn’t regularly worn in a safety deposit box with your bank
  • If you prefer to store them at home, then install a Sold Secure Gold Domestic Safe to British Standard EN 14450 S2 in a hidden place securely bolted to a floor or wall
  • Don’t leave empty jewellery packaging on display.
  • Make sure your home is secure keeping windows and doors locked
  • When your home is unattended leave a light on or use timer switches or smart bulbs to give the impression that somebody is at home, consider installing an intruder alarm
  • Consider installing a video doorbell or CCTV system together with outdoor security lighting
